This agreement will enable an additional one billion euros of investment in wind energy by 2027.

On 28th November 2025, a strategic agreement has been signed between the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Crédit Agricole CIB, in support of European wind energy, illustrating their strong mutual commitment to encouraging the transition to green energy.

Under this initiative, the EIB will provide a counter-guarantee of €500 million, thereby enabling Crédit Agricole CIB to build a portfolio of bank guarantees (on behalf of its clients) that could reach €1 billion and that demonstrates the bank's strong commitment to Europe's energy transition and independence.

The EIB's commitment through these guarantees based on InvestEU support (an EU program aimed at mobilizing a total of more than €372 billion in investments by 2027) provides a growth mechanism for wind industry players ranging from the supply chain to the electricity grid, and with the potential to reach up to 8 billion euros.

This stimulates the mobilization of private capital from other institutional and banking partners, which promotes European wind energy and offers clients a range of innovative solutions to support them in this direction.

"The signing of this framework agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) marks a strategic milestone for Crédit Agricole CIB by consolidating our role as a supporter of major energy transitions in Europe. This collaboration strengthens our capacity to support structural projects in the wind energy sector and to generate concrete impact in favor of the development of sustainable infrastructure. Thanks to the EIB's expertise and to our shared commitment, we can offer our European clients new levers to accelerate their environmental ambitions, and this agreement positions us as a key partner for responsible European growth."
