Crédit Agricole CIB supports the Asian Development Bank to issue its first digital solutions theme bond

Crédit Agricole CIB supports the Asian Development Bank to issue its inaugural USD 100 million 3-year digital solutions theme bond to finance a pool of eligible projects supporting digital connectivity across Asia and the Pacific.

The proceeds will help Asian Development Bank bolster inclusive and sustainable development through promoting digital investments in connectivity, public infrastructure, cybersecurity, government systems, public service delivery, and other digital solutions. This thematic bond offers an innovative financial solution for investors to indirectly invest in digital technology and make a positive impact.

Issued under the Asian Development Bank Theme Bonds for Sustainable Development program, this bond issuance follows the USD 20 billion Asia-Pacific Digital Highway initiative announced by ADB in May, which aims to provide first-time broadband access to 200 million people and more reliable and quicker connections for another 450 million people across the region. The initiative is expected to lower Internet costs by around 40% in remote and landlocked areas and help create 4 million jobs by 2035.
