In 2025, Crédit Agricole CIB celebrates a symbolic milestone: fifty years of activity in aviation finance. An anniversary that highlights a human and strategic adventure that began in 1975 and bears witness to an unwavering commitment to the players in the air transport industry.

On 17 June, in the heart of the Palais Garnier, of which Crédit Agricole CIB is a patron, and on the fringes of the Paris Air Show, the Bank is bringing together clients and partners to mark this event and recall its role in the transformation of a sector undergoing major change.

Since the first transactions launched by Crédit Lyonnais in 1975, then strengthened by the presence of Indosuez in the 1980s, particularly in Japan, Crédit Agricole CIB has built up a unique expertise. Merged under the Calyon brand in 2004, these activities have created a benchmark global platform. Crédit Agricole CIB has accompanied its clients, whether they were incumbent airlines, new operators or manufacturers, through the cycles of the sector, from periods of strong growth to the most severe crises.

Crédit Agricole CIB has distinguished itself by its ability to remain present and active, even when the headwinds were blowing hard. After 11 September 2001, during the financial crisis of 2008, in the face of SARS or COVID-19, the bank maintained its commitments.

The strength of this franchise rests on three pillars:

  • expertise, with the ability to structure sophisticated financing such as JOLCO, ABS or French tax leases, and the complete coverage of financial products and services offered by the whole of Crédit Agricole CIB to our airline and leasing clients,
  • loyalty, thanks to the stability of its teams and the depth of the relationships forged with its clients,
  • and responsibility, embodied by constant support for the sector, even at the most critical times.

Today, our Bank is putting this experience to work for more responsible aviation. As a founding member of the Pegasus Guidelines, Crédit Agricole CIB finances aircraft that emit the least CO2, supports the development of alternative fuels and backs innovations in propulsion, to help air transport achieve its Net Zero objectives.

"We are celebrating a collective adventure in which high standards, innovation and shared trust have always guided our choices. This jubilee is not just a look back at the past, but a renewed commitment to build, alongside our clients, a more sustainable, more resilient and ever forward-looking aviation industry".
