Université Paris-Dauphine and its Foundation have signed a sponsorship agreement with Mazars and Crédit Agricole CIB to launch a Fintech & Digital Finance Chair.

In early 2019, Université Paris-Dauphine and its Foundation signed a four-year sponsorship agreement with the international audit group Mazars and the bank Crédit Agricole CIB to contribute to the emergence of an ecosystem blending research, teaching and promotional and entrepreneurial activity in the field of fintech and digital finance. Further partnerships will follow to reach a total budget of €1 million.

Coordinated by Hervé Alexandre, Finance Professor and Head of the Banking and Finance Master’s diploma at Université Paris-Dauphine, the chair is a response to the real needs of a fast-growing market. Through morning expert meetings, panel discussions and annual conferences planned in Europe, Asia, North America and Africa, the chair will bring together, alongside its partners, renowned academic and professional specialists from France and around the world for dialogue on digital finance.

These discussions will make the chair a fertile breeding ground for the topic, enabling it to focus its research on real-life issues while supporting the emergence of pioneering entrepreneurial projects.

At the same time, the chair will contribute to research and teaching through the creation of digital finance courses in its Master's programmes and by financing a doctoral programme at Université Paris-Dauphine. In addition to their academic and professional aspect, these initiatives will contribute to the implementation of a structured and regulated framework for digital finance over the long term.

The chair will benefit from the international academic network of Paris-Dauphine and join forces with recognised players in the fintech ecosystem to foster research through calls for projects with a global reach and the annual attribution of a prize for the best article.

Regarding entrepreneurship, the chair will also support headlining fintech events such as Paris Blockchain Week and the Cosmos/Tendermint hackathon in the creation of competitions to support the operational roll-out of innovative projects. The chair will also team up with the Paris-Dauphine incubator to assist Master’s graduates in the development and funding of their fintech projects.

The chair was launched officially on 15 March 2019 at a conference on the challenge of international expansion for fintechs (“Internationalisation : le prochain défi des fintechs”) organised as part of Dauphine’s House of Finance Days. The chair will also be in the spotlight at the inauguration of the university’s new premises in London on 25 April 2019, an event attended by the French Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Jean-Pierre Jouyet.
