Crédit Agricole CIB supports Zenobē's €325m financing for 1,000 new electric vehicles across Europe
The Bank participated in a landmark €325 million senior debt financing to support Zenobē's ambitious expansion across continental Europe.
Accelerating Europe's Green Transport Revolution
Zenobē, backed by leading infrastructure investors KKR and Infracapital, has secured this significant financing to deploy up to 1,000 Battery Electric vehicles and their associated charging infrastructure throughout Europe. This represents a major step forward in Zenobē’s growth and international expansion, as well as in the continent's transition to sustainable public transportation.
Founded in 2017 and headquartered in the UK, Zenobē has rapidly established itself as an international battery storage specialist and Battery Electric Buses (“BEB”) operator. In less than a decade, the company has become a market leader in fleet electrification services in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, with expanding operations across Europe, North America, and Australasia.
Having captured approximately 28% of the UK's growing electric vehicle bus fleet market, Zenobē is now focused on replicating this success across Europe. The company has already secured contracts in the Benelux region, Finland and Spain, with this new financing set to accelerate its continental expansion and further establish its growing reputation.
Addressing Europe's Carbon Challenge
This transaction directly addresses one of Europe's most critical environmental challenges: reducing carbon emissions from transportation. As diesel and petrol-powered vehicles contribute significantly to air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions across the continent, Zenobē's expansion will facilitate European cities' transition to more sustainable public transport options.
This financing will enable Europe to develop a more sustainable, affordable and reliable electric transport network. By deploying up to 1,000 additional state-of-the-art electric buses and electric trucks, along with the necessary charging infrastructure, Zenobē is committed to enhancing both the economic viability and accessibility of electric transport throughout Europe.
For Crédit Agricole CIB, this transaction represents a key credential in the rapidly growing e-mobility sector. It positions the Bank at the forefront of energy transition financing within the European infrastructure market, demonstrating its commitment to supporting innovative solutions for sustainable transportation.
“Congratulations to all teams involved on closing this landmark electric fleet financing transaction with Zenobē. This deal strengthens the Bank's position in the energy transition space and builds our credentials in the rapidly growing e-mobility sector. We look forward to leveraging this success for future global opportunities.”

“Building on the UK grid-scale battery storage project on which Crédit Agricole CIB acted as Mandated Lead Arranger earlier this year, we are delighted to expand our support for Zenobē with this latest transaction. The new €325m debt facility will fund the expansion of its electric bus fleets-as-a-service offering in Europe, showcasing the Bank’s ability to partner with our infrastructure fund clients, KKR and Infracapital, to drive energy transition across new market thematics.”
