Cathay Pacific adopts ESG-linked corporate savings account
The innovative account enables the airline to earn a higher yield on account balances as it progresses toward sustainable operations.
Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong’s premium, full-service home airline, has adopted ESG-linked corporate savings account offered by Crédit Agricole CIB, making it the first airline to have adopted the product globally. Introduced by Crédit Agricole CIB in 2023, the innovative ESG-linked corporate savings account scheme enables clients to earn a higher yield on their account balances as they improve their ESG performance.
Crédit Agricole CIB is a proud partner of Cathay Pacific and is committed to supporting the airline on its sustainability journey with innovative financing tools. In July 2022, the Bank arranged and provided Cathay Pacific with the financing of a brand new fuel-efficient Airbus A321NEO under a sustainability-linked Japanese Operating Lease with Call Option (JOLCO) format, which was the first-ever sustainability-linked JOLCO in Asia-Pacific.
With decade-long experience as the first bank to set up a dedicated sustainable banking team, Crédit Agricole CIB is one of the most active sustainable finance players in Hong Kong and was named Euromoney’s “Best Bank for ESG in Hong Kong 2024”. Combined with half a century of expertise as a world leader in aircraft financing, Crédit Agricole CIB is committed to supporting the aviation sector on the road to decarbonisation.
“Our innovative ESG-linked corporate savings account opened for Cathay Pacific highlights our dedication to incorporating sustainable features in a wide range of banking products to support our customers’ efforts in their transition towards carbon neutrality.”
